So much for any offensive momentum coming off the last game. The Mercury were held by the Storm defense to only 36% shooting and were man-handled on the boards, 47-32.
Not a strong showing for the defending WNBA champs, to say the least.
The Mercury are going to need to get their act in gear fast if they want to catch the Storm. They started the second quarter with a strong defensive effort and cut the lead to 5 but the Storm fired back and closed the half strong to take a 15-point lead into the locker room.
Swin Cash leads all scorers with 11 and Temeka Johnson leads the Mercury with 9. The Storm are dominating on the glass, 24-15.
The Mercury (3-3) will need to step up their game tonight if they hope to close the gap on the Seattle Storm who are the class of the WNBA right now with a 7-1 record.
The Mercury might be helped by the fact that the Storm played a close game in LA last night so they will have to travel home and play tonight on the second of a back-to-back.
The Storm defeated the Mercury in Phoenix two weeks ago in an overtime game.

Phoenix Flooded By Storm
Seattle was up 87-48 at the end of three quarters. Game over.
From the recap at Swish Appeal:
Not quite time to push the panic button but with the way the Mercury have been playing, it might be a good idea to locate it.
