Penny Taylor Injury Update

The official word from the team lists Penny Taylor as day to day with a sprained ankle and calls her a game time decision for Sunday’s match versus the Connecticut Sun.

Given the amount of pain she was in – and unfortunately I had a front row seat for it – this is good news, especially considering Penny’s history with serious ankle issues. Luckily however, the injury suffered late in the 3rd quarter on Friday was not to her left ankle which was surgically repaired in spring 2009.

The Mercury have a history of down-playing and under reporting injuries so this one could take a bit longer to bounce back from than one day, but there are also no indications that this is anything more serious than a “routine” sprain.

Bullet dodged.
