Arizona Diamondbacks Demote Blaine Boyer In Attempt To Fix Bad Bullpen

Stay connected for news and updates

The Diamondbacks don't have to look to hard for a scape goat in their battered, bad bullpen. In their latest attempt to bring some kind of order to the relief crew, they have designated RHP Blaine Boyer for assignment and have recalled Billy Buckner.

According to the team web site, "Boyer had worked exclusively out of the bullpen for the D-backs and had been struggling. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a 1-2 record with a 7.82 ERA in 14 relief appearances. He has 182 games at the Major League level and holds a career 4.97 ERA over stints in Atlanta, St. Louis and Arizona."

So Buckner in. Boyer out. Results likely unchanged.
